- 2021: Violent outbreak in May between Hamas and Israel led to at least 256 Palestinians killed including 66 children and 1,000s injured, and 13 Israelis killed including 2 children. fighting ended after 11 days with Egypt mediated ceasefire, but restarted in June. In 2021, ~350 Palestinians killed, including 217 civilians and 71 children.

- 2022: Shireen Abu Akleh, Palestinian-American US citizen and Al Jazeera journalist for 25 years was murdered on 5/11 by Israeli sniper while wearing blue clearly marked press vest while covering Jenin raid. - 2023: Operation Al-Aqsa Flood (Hamas) 10/7 attack by land air and sea, in response to Gaza blockade, continued occupation, and provocations at al-Aqsa Mosque, firing at least 5,000 rockets into Israel, and around 2,500 fighters crossing through 10 breaches in the security fence, disabling security systems and overrunning nearby military bases. More fighters and civilians continue crossing fence over several hours with no IDF response, looting, taking ~250 hostages, and mass killing of unarmed Israeli civilians at nearby kibbutzim and music festival.
